Pan-OLYmpia Summer Squash Festival

The Raccoon Collective Presents:
Olympia Summer Squash Festival 2009
June 24th-28th

The Raccoon Arts Collective presents Olympia's first annual Summer Squash! From Wednesday June 24th through Sunday June 28th, the community will join in a celebration of all that we have to offer. Integrating performance and participation we hope to deconstruct the barrier between life and art. Working and playing together we form a stronger and more meaningful community. For five days, in formal venues, as well as houses and gardens, Olympia will actualize this greater vision of itself. Summer Squash incorporates visual art, performance, music, athletics, gardening, teaching and learning into a single event. We hope to achieve a breadth and scope that will engage all members of the Olympia area. Our days will be filled with murals, sports and workshops; our nights with theater, dance and music, everyday unique and inspiring. This is an event for the people, by the people, of the people. Our goal is to support community members in seeing their visions become reality. Motivating each other we can achieve more than we would alone. What will you do to be a part of the fun? For more information contact: olysummersquash@gmail.com Weekly organizational meetings open to all: Wednesdays 7pm @ Media Island 816 Adams SE Mission Statement: Support community based culture by establishing venues for individuals and groups to celebrate with the greater population. Integrating performance and participation in these venues deconstructs the barrier between life and art.

New Valerie Park Distro

The Bad news:

We've had to cancel one too many artswalks lately because of general over commitment to basic survival
The Good news:  We will do artswalk at the end of January which will be our official two year anniversary.  Think Party.  Big Party
We're also pround to annouce our partnership with local upcoming Ms. Valerie Park Distro
New Distro! by raccoon collective.
This is a new (small-ish, humble-ish) Olympia-based distro. It's CD's, zines, tapes, vinyl, and handmade things from local (mostly Oly, Seattle, Portland) folk. Check it: www.msvaleriepark.blogspot.com/ Everything's real cheap and more stuff is getting added all the time, so keep comin' back! Thanks to all who can support it and make it work for the artists involved.  Look for work by Raccoon collective member artist. Words.
